Health insurance is compulsory! As you may know, medical expenses are extremely high in the USA and without a health insurance policy you can not only be massively out of pocket after one visit to the doctor’s surgery, but the university can also refuse to accept you.
Some universities may impose insurance plans, often between 1,750 USD and 2,800 USD per year. Whilst others may be more lenient and allow you to choose your own policy if it fits in with their minimum requirements.
Go Campus also offers an insurance plan, at an annual cost of 850 EUR, which is accepted by some universities. These will be indicated to you upon the release of your personalised Scholarship Report.
If your university requires you to purchase its insurance, you are not required to purchase Go Campus insurance.
Go Campus does not have access to insurance information relating to each university. Once you have been accepted by your school, you can ask them for more detailed information about their insurance policy.
In the USA you can either pay upfront for your medical procedure and be reimbursed or choose to go to a surgery or hospital that is linked to your insurance provider so as not to pay anything upfront. In either case, an insurance dossier will need to be opened and sent to your provider so that everything remains above board.
